Born of the desire to put the “Art & Mondes du travail” (Art & Worlds of Work) charter into practice, this programme, launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture, has three aims:
• to meet men and women in their workplace
• to enable artists to carry out their artistic research
• to spark dialogue between different worlds of work
The scheme, run by the DRAC, involves three protagonists: the artist, the company and the presenting venue.

Florian Schönerstedt — La ligne et le protocole (The Line and the Protocol)
Rules, protocols, constraints, programmes... form Florian Schönerstedt’s visual vocabulary. A large part of his practice is linked to acquiring “raw materials”. It is both a starting point and an end in itself. Manufactured objects, plant elements, recordings of actions... the harvests are highly diverse.
It is the constraint and its application that define the primary meaning of the harvest; archiving and classification then nourish and enrich it. He is particularly interested in multiple forms and objects that are often described as insignificant or worthless, the opposite of the “unicum”. He thus regularly works with what has been discarded and/or is destined for the bin. While carrying out a constrained gesture, discoveries abound. The element of the unexpected is very much present, as much in the rule as in the place where the process is carried out.
In an approach that is open to these discoveries, he nurtures other forms that take shape, connected (or not) to the initial project. He likes to “make do with what is there”, and in this he seeks to become conscious of his relationship to the world. “Making do” becomes a way of seeking new forms while taking care to use the material at hand.
Regularly setting up rules and protocols in his work has led him to collaborate with many scientists, linking his practice to the scientific approach as much through mimicry as through divergence, acting as a revealer.
