Minimalist and algorithmic music in tribute to François Morellet
By Melaine Dalibert, piano
Melaine Dalibert is most often introduced as an impassioned champion of rare and minimalist repertoires.
Alongside his work as a performer, he develops his own compositions, which uniquely combine generative processes based on mathematical sequences with a sensitive approach to instrumental gesture. Close to the artist François Morellet, he was commissioned by the Centre Pompidou-Metz, on the occasion of the artist's centenary, to create a musical programme in his honour, also presented at the eac., Mouans-Sartoux and at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Grenoble.
PROGRAM:
Philip Glass — Opening Piece • Erik Satie — Gymnopédies • John Cage: In a Landscape • Tom Johnson: Music for 88 (excerpts) • Sébastien Roux: Canon de Vuza n21 • Melaine Dalibert: In A, Fall
Part of the programme accompanying the exhibition Amitié choisie: François Morellet and the Albers-Honegger collection.
