WindsoR Hotel, Nice: Robert Barry Room
Work: Hide-Behind
“Hide-Behind” (a sound and visual installation) is part of an overarching project launched in early 2026, which will evolve in 2027 into a hybrid, transmedia format: at once a film, a fantasy tale, an album, an installation, and a live concert.
Hide-Behind traverses the layers of the visible and the audible within the Robert Barry Room; it eschews a comprehensive view, instead revealing itself in fragments and through shifts within a dynamic temporality. Within the space of the room, silence, architecture, and Mediterranean light become integral components of a composition where sound and image engage in dialogue without ever serving as illustrations of one another.
The project draws inspiration from a creature in Jorge Luis Borges’s *Manual of Fantastic Zoology*: an elusive creature that always hides behind what one is looking at, constantly evading direct gaze.
